Craft Circle

Women used to run entire information networks from kitchen tables.

While their hands were busy — sewing, weaving, cooking, mending — stories were shared, news traveled, ideas formed, alliances were built.

Communities were woven together through conversation.

This is how knowledge moved through the world.

Part of a woman’s power in communication has never been hierarchical. It doesn’t move in a pyramid from the top down.

It moves more like a spider web — threads forming in every direction as relationships strengthen and ideas travel quietly through the network.

The craft circle is simply a return to that.

Why Craft?

Humans have a remarkable ability. We can pull a thought from the ethers and bring it into reality with our hands.

Think about that.

You imagine something… and suddenly it exists in the world.

That’s magic.

Lots of people say they aren’t crafty. I don’t buy it.

We are creator beings.

Crafting isn’t about talent or perfection. It’s about remembering that deeply human impulse to make something.

The Plan

My intention is for this to be a regular event. We’ll eat, make something with our hands, and enjoy the kind of conversation that tends to emerge when women sit together long enough — the kind that has historically included a little gossip and the occasional revolutionary idea.

I’ll provide cratfing supplies for us to play with, along with food and drink.

If you already have a small project you’re working on, feel free to bring it along.

Just come sit around the table with me.

Let’s make pretty things.

There are only six seats available, because the whole point is that we can actually talk to each other.

The time for cultivating our community and our Inner creators is upon us.
